This important program is the foundation of our service.

Respite is the number one priority for families caring for chronically ill children.

Our weekend respite program is designed to give parents and caregivers a temporary break from the day to day demands – helping to prevent additional stress in hope of preventing these destructive build-ups. Each family member can gain personal time to recover and recuperate from his or her daily struggles. Parents can find quality time to spend with siblings to reconnect family ties. This respite offers families a sense of normalcy, a chance to heal, and the encouragement to believe that things can improve.

Care for the children attending Camp Holiday is very specialized and tailored toward individual needs. These children suffer many more frustrations and setbacks in their young lives than other children. Many cannot attend regular childcare facilities because of these disorders and the lack of properly trained caregivers.

At Camp Holiday, a 1:6 adult to child ratio staff, sensitive to and trained in handling these health needs, help to provide positive role models. Aware of each child's individual interests, needs, and age, they plan activity programs to offer encouraging opportunities to build self-esteem and positive self-imaging in a non-pressured environment. We include hands-on learning and activities mixed with opportunities for fun while building important social skills and peer relationships. These opportunities are reinforced as the children discover new friends, challenging adventures, and most importantly discover themselves.
